The Lord Will Fight for You
The Lord will fight for you—even when it feels like you’re losing ground. In seasons of exhaustion, betrayal, and fear, He hasn’t stepped away. He’s drawing near.
In those dark hours of the unknown, fear can grip you hard. The enemy is pressing in, and you feel as though you are suffocating. There seems to be no way out. Every road you choose has a dead end. Hopelessness is gaining momentum. But it doesn’t have to have victory. The Lord will fight you.
In the unseen realm, a battle is on. A war is raging. And your life is the object of contention. The Lord will fight for you. He is fighting for you.
The Enemy’s Relentless Battle
He works hard to wear you down. He’s relentless. He gathers adversaries against you to help plot your demise. He’s cunning and sharp and never tires of his work. He will use any tool he can to destroy, even those you never expected.
He’s energized by your tears. He’s encouraged by your fear. He thrives on anxiousness. And he smells victory at the sign of discouragement. And then he pounces. With destruction in mind, he uses all means to finish the job. Even people. Even other believers.
Like a deer in the headlights we freeze and buckle. As the fiery arrows are launched, we are too afraid to move. We are open prey for our tireless foe. He knows we are worn down.
Trusted friends have betrayed, and loneliness leads to deep isolation. The weight of it all has been crushing. You’ve prayed. You’ve pleaded. You’ve fasted. You’ve waited. But one blow after another, you are just worn out. The desire to give up and quit has now become attractive and inviting.
You wake up early. Another restless sleep. The weight of the world attacks all ability to rest. You drag yourself into that quiet place. Feeling nothing but dejection and defeat, you bow on bended knee.
You know he listens and you know he is there. But doubt is thicker than it has ever been. Thoughts of “why bother” race throughout. The wrestling match with God begins.
Be Still and Know That I am God
And then, a sweet whisper in your ear. A reminder that you have not been forgotten and you will never be forsaken. An affirmation that amidst the chaos and seemingly unfixable mess, he is working.
The lion of Judah roars, he simply says, “Be still, and know, that I am God.”
We are limited in scope. We see things from a short and narrow view. Oh, how the lens of heaven is wide and broad, filled with angels fighting your cause. He’s never limited by our messy, distorted view.
Stay on that bended knee. Fight the only way to fight. Because no matter who is creating the chaos and destruction, it is a spiritual battle. And those, are only won on your knees. So, stay in that humble posture.
The Lord Will Fight for You
The Lord will indeed fight for you. When all strength, grit, hope and even desire to fight have been extinguished, the heavenly hosts and great I Am is at work. We can take comfort in his promise, “no weapon formed against us will ever prosper.” Oh, it may seem the contrary, and everything make look as if defeat is eminent, but God is working through the ugly, building our faith along the way, and leading us in this battle.
Victory is in his scepter. He’s lining things up the way he wants them. There is a bigger picture being painted. There are other players we don’t see. All being worked out in the heavenlies for his glory.
So be still my friend. Be still. Because He is our God.
