So many wasted years. So many wasted months, weeks, days and moments. Oh, how I wish I would have fallen in love with the Word of God years ago. Yes, I was one of those who grew-up in a home where scripture was painted on the door posts, and hanging on the walls. And I belonged to a church that gathered in His name, prayed and worshipped fervently, but I was too caught up in myself, my world, my ideas of Christianity instead of the reality of this powerful truth. I guess I just took for granted this amazing Book called, the Bible.
Although I may have been late to the game, I am definitely not a bench warmer because this Book, from cover-to-cover, is life, breath, hope and our future. While so many people, so many “believers” are running around looking up, down, to their political party, the media and everywhere else, wondering what is going to happen next, I can sit back, with confidence knowing how it will all unfold because it has been foretold. If you open up this Book, you too will see that it is all unfolding according to God’s plan and be able to rest in peace.
This Book, these inspired Words of God have stood the test of time. It survived Julian the Apostate, who declared his hostility towards the Bible and all it says. He was hell-bent and determined to destroy this Book and see to it that any influence of Scripture was put to death, and this was early on in 341AD! Times have changed, but people haven’t as it has been the drive of many to eliminate this beautiful Book. Of course, the Bible cannot be bound or stopped, today, it still remains the number one best seller of any Book.
The Bible has undergone persecution of its enemies, but also persecution of its friends as well. Today’s pastors and theologians are continually trying to recreate a Book to fit the “everyday modern man”. They are trying to buddy up to the culture, the climate, the current way of doing life. When will people learn? See, this amazing, powerful, Book of Life has been attacked, burned, violated, and oh, so many have tried to rewrite portions that don’t suit them and yet, it remains.
Foolishness. The Author of this Book is God, and He tells us over and over in His Word will last forever. Matthew 24:25, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my Words will never pass away.” 1 Peter 1:25 “but the Word of the Lord endures forever.” Isaiah 40:8, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” Just to mention a few.
The Word flies in the face of so many leaders. The Word goes against how so many want to live. The Word of God contradicts our culture, and yet it remains. So, what is next for this amazing Book that breeds life and hope? It will be deemed as hate speech. It has already started in many countries as well as our beloved United States. You know, those portions of Scripture that touch on the sensitive areas of our culture. You know the ones. They’ve been removed in other countries and are easily being removed here in the United States. Heck, they don’t have to be removed because most pastors won’t even preach on them!
Censorship is the new craze. Scripture will be censored and so many believers will sit back and come up with reasons why that is okay, and let it go. These are the believers that really don’t know their Bible because if they did, you’d see them fighting hard for it.
Not me. I love this Book! I want truth, more truth, righteous truth and truth that can be trusted. I want all of it, as much as I can get. I want to soak it in, so it oozes out of my life. There are no self-help books or programs that can give me the overcoming power I need. There is no teaching, or medication that can bring the needed healing, only the Word of God.
So, although to so many, and so many of those who claim to follow Christ, will easily let go of the Word to appease those who are offended, I won’t be censored. I will speak boldly, loudly and proudly of the very things written in this Book that has given me eternal life.
