Sad week in the Alcosiba home. As hard as it is, we have to say goodbye to our doggy Miley Mae.
I believe God was intentional when he created our furry friends. They bring us comfort and give this unconditional love and loyalty that says “you, my family, are my world”.
Miley is closing in on 15 years old and we got her when Kenny was in junior high. This little blessing wrapped in fur was just what my three boys and our family needed and she came at the perfect time. She got Kenny through some extremely difficult times in junior high and managed to meet all three boys at their individual needs when needed. She celebrated every victory the boys ever had with an enthusiastic wagging tail and doggy kisses. She was also that lover of the wounded heart and would cuddle up during our hard times and just be there and listen.
She has been part of our family for a very long time. She’s little, but strong, and she’s got some serious grit. She would pull the boys on their skateboards around Newark Lake with no problem and as tired as she would get, she never stopped. She is smart, so smart and does the best dog tricks ever! She cuddled, she loved, she brought us joy.
Letting her go is like letting go of a member of the family. There’s not a dry eye in this home because we all love her. We reminisce of our precious memories with this four legged, furry family member who brought us so my years of joy, laughter and love.
She’s been stoic as she lives out her final days. Even Samson is feeling the sadness as he watches his pal slip away.. We are all in mourning as this chapter in our family’s life comes to an end.
We say goodbye to you. Miley Mae Alcosiba. Thank you for enriching our lives and being the perfect dog for our boys and family. You will never be forgotten.
