The enemy has a mighty grip. Don’t think for a minute that he will let go of you. It was never his plan to lose you to the Father of life, but he hasn’t given up. He will never throw up the white flag and surrender his claim on your life.
Could you imagine for a moment his job. His purpose is to kill, steal and destroy. And we don’t have to look far to see his success. And he doesn’t have to work all that hard. He easily steals our joy and hope. And sometimes, his ways are effortless. We willingly lay them down at his feet with our lack of faith and trust. We give him authority in our lives because we don’t really know the truth.
He steals our peace. Anxiousness is all consuming and paralyzing. We rely more on medication than the power of his word. We give into a life of anxiety and depression never understanding the freeing power of Jesus. He keeps us entangled in his web of lies. We are so consumed we become estranged to the word of God. Doubt takes over. Victory is never won and our faith is minimized.
He destroys. Give him a bit room, that’s all he needs. We so easily give him access to our heart because we fail to guard it. Television, movies, social media, music, even people….. we willingly make room for the enemy to consume and destroy our lives. And then, we question where is God? Even worse, we blame God.
Doesn’t God tell us to guard heart with all diligence for from it flows the springs of life? But we don’t guard our heart. We give the destroyer the key. We welcome him with his contaminating influence and allow our soul to be eroded. Then, we wonder why we have no joy, peace or hope,
And the enemy laughs and laughs thinking, “I never thought it would be so easy…..”
He destroys families. And maybe that takes some time but he’s committed to his mission of destruction.
We claim we love our family. We want our marriages to thrive. We want our children protected. We want clarity over confusion. But do we fight for those we love? Do we wrestle with God crying out for more of Him?
Our battles are to be fought on bended knee. Victory prevails when we wage war against our enemy. And yet, we push the snooze alarm and roll over leaving the very ones we treasure to potential slaughter. Then, when the mess is made, we wonder how it all happened.
Know your enemy. You better believe that he knows you. He has studied you and is once step ahead of you. We’ve been forewarned. He disguises himself as an angel of light and oh how he looks good. It is packaged up pretty. And it all looks like the finger prints of God, but has the signature of Satan. How often have we fallen into that trap? But when you don’t sharpen your relationship with him, what can you expect?
He doesn’t need your soul, he’s conquered plenty and plenty more will be conquered. But he will not let you go. He will not give you up. If he can bring destruction to your life and shatter your faith, then he wins. Heck, if he can just distract you and immobilize you, he’s succeeded. He has disarmed and paralyzed you. And then, you are no more useful to God than the unbeliever.
We need to take this battle more serious. We need to know our enemy and understand his purpose. And more importantly, we need to know our God. We need to believe in the unfailing and unlimited power of Jesus Christ. Don’t you think if Believers really believed, our lives would look dramatically different.
It is time to wake up to his truth. We need to be anchored in his word and postured at his throne. It’s time to unleash His power. Time is running out.
Ephesians 5:14
This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
