Today is the end of summer, for me anyway because my boys are packing up to leave for school tomorrow – I’ve come to dread this time of the year.
For the past 7 years, every year about this time someone or two of them are packing up and heading back to school. It’s hard for me and never gets easier.
What an wonderful summer I’ve had with my crew! We’ve laughed so much, had tons of fun, prayed a lot, cried a lot, ate a lot and grew even closer than we were; no wonder it is so hard to see them go.
I guess it is a bit easier this year because they are near done! Kenny just completed his graduate work and has a masters of theology and ministry leadership. He started working for the American Arbitration Association and is thriving and loving it! He will no doubt be buying s place of his own in the next year or so.
Kevin Alcosiba will be graduating in April with a degree in psychology and minor in theology. He’s done an amazing job as youth director at the church this past summer and we are anxious for him to return. He will take the CMA pastoral licensing test in May, and begin his masters work.
Kyle Alcosiba is going into his third and final year at Biola. It looks like he will be graduating after just three years. He will finish with a degree in social science and a minor in biblical studies. He is researching credentialing programs and will soon be teaching high school history and hopefully coaching basketball, track, and girls volleyball.
I am so proud of my boys and what they have accomplished. They definitely get it from their dad for sure! They are far from perfect but walk perfectly in their imperfections as they strive to walk out their faith living counter to the culture. They make mistakes and even fail but they rebound quickly because they understand His grace.
After tonight, there will be a whole lot more food in the fridge and my food bill will go down! After tonight I can turn the air in the house so it isn’t freezing all the time. After tonight there will be no dishes in the sink or shoes lying around….. but after tonight the house will be far too quiet for my liking; I like the noise and the craziness.
I love you boys! Finish strong and finish well. Be Kingdom changers!
See you at Thanksgiving!
