I stared at this picture for a long while. It’s painful. My heart mourns for those sporting this disturbing attire. My heart grieves for those so lost that their view is tainted and blurred.
First, let me tell you something about Satan…. He is a respecter of nothing, especially you. If you know Satan, have studied his nature and his disposition then you know he could careless of your gender and pronouns. The author of confusion, destruction and delusion is so far removed from pronouns that it makes this shirt almost laughable. I say almost because celebrating evil is terrifying.
But God cares about pronouns. They are oh so precious to him. They are words that describe the beautifully purposed creation of each and everyone of us. With great intention and significance, each cell was knitted together with care and perfection.
Did we all come out perfectly? Well, that would have been lovely. But the enemy was there that day in the garden and despised the creation of our King. And so he began his scheme to derail.
You know the story, the cunningness of evil, the ability to disillusion the flesh, the manipulation of God’s words. He far surpassed wickedness as he aggressively moved to steal, destroy and kill.
Brokenness entered the world that day. Sickness. Suffering. Pain. Confusion. And all sorts of evil was behind one small bite.
Does that mean there were mistakes? Well, there were no mistakes when it came to you. But what it does mean, we are all born into this broken and confusing world. It’s ugly. And some are born physically deformed. Some are born with mentally impaired. Some are born with propensities that can easily destroy if not tempered with great caution and care. Some are born with deep, dark confusion. We are simply unable to grasp the magnitude of the power of the fall. And we are all affected by it. But we are not excused because of it.
Regardless of the innate war that rages, we are called to follow him. Our bones may burn with an anxious longing, but God tells us he has more. Our desires may overwhelm us and at times overtake us, but there is someone greater who wants to manifest his power to create a better life.
There was a time when Satan was silent not celebrated. There was a disturbing creepiness that nobody wanted to encounter. There was a sense of evil that was taboo. There was a darkness that was feared. Those days are long gone.
Satan is alive and is no longer lurking in camouflaged attire. He doesn’t have to disguise himself as an angel of light to fool the ignorant. No, people are willfully walking and embracing a very real enemy.
He’s has lied and people choose to believe the lie. He has confused but the confusion has been welcomed. He has disillusioned understanding. And people willfully walk into crazy delusions.
Satan is not about love is love, that’s a ridiculous belief. And as far as pronouns, well, he celebrates. Who’d of thought he could accomplish so much with grammar.
We, a lost, degenerate, broken people have allowed Satan to roam freely and wildly to complete the destruction he started. There is only one respecter of life, and that is Jesus Christ. In him, we find hope, meaning and answers.
God and Satan cannot coexist in the life of humans. We either serve one or the other. People may think they don’t serve neither. Scripture makes it clear, you are either for him or against him. Now I will admit, choosing to follow hard after God is so hard. Even painful at times. But it leads to life.
Choose today whom you will serve.
